1. Jump rope improves your coordination

Whether or not you pay attention to your brain, your brain knows what your feet are doing. Jumping rope is great for coordination, kind of because of obvious reasons, you’re sort of moving your feet up and down what’s that fast tapping motion.
So it’s great for sports where you’re constantly changing direction like basketball, also another great one is boxing or basically for any other type of sport that involves just needing a lot of coordination.
2. Decrease foot and ankle injuries

Jumping rope helps you to decrease foot and ankle injuries. When you are jumping rope you are actually strengthening the muscles around your foot and ankles making you less prone to injury.
Fun fact: My friend actually sprained his ankle really bad when he was playing college football and he was recommended to use a jump rope to help get that strength back up and therefore cure his injury.
And by the way, this is why many of you who are beginners this is why your feet hurt so bad. We get a ton of comments from people saying, hey I just started jumping rope why are my feet hurting so bad.

Jumping rope helps with your posture. We now live in a society where everyone for most of the day our crouched over your computer doing things.
When you have this kind of posture like sitting on a computer, your shoulders are caved in, your back is slouched, this is not good especially for your lower back and your discs.
With good jump rope form, you’re actually pulling your shoulder blades back as you see in the b-roll here and you are aligning your spine.

It doesn’t actually make you taller but it helps improve your posture. So if you’re standing up straight yes you can actually look taller.

Jumping rope increases your bone density. Dr. Daniel W berry an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Colorado at Denver and a researcher who has studied the bones of the athletes says that the best exercise to improve bone density is simply just jumping up and down. Jumping rope is also an amazing exercise for recovering from injury. So remember I told you that story about my friend injuring himself and then doing jump rope to recover, well I actually did the same thing.
I went to my physical therapist for a back injury and when I was speaking with him he said the same exact thing. When someone gets hurt or injured and they have trauma the most baseline exercise that you want to get them started doing is the jump rope.
Because again when you’re fully aligned and jumping up and down like this you’re engaging your entire body. So jump rope is the baseline for recovering from injury.
